Editorial policy
Eastern Food Journal aims to make food culture readable without flattening its complexity. We value clear explanations, careful wording and honest corrections over sweeping claims.
Accuracy and context
We check factual statements against appropriate references before publication and take care with names, origins and cultural descriptions. When a subject has competing accounts or substantial regional variation, we say so rather than presenting one explanation as universal. We do not invent sources, experiences or expertise.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for reader interest and relevance. Commercial relationships do not guarantee coverage, favourable treatment or a particular conclusion. Any material contribution from a partner is identified clearly, and it does not determine independent editorial work.
Corrections
If a published detail is wrong or materially unclear, we review it and correct the text. Readers can send correction requests through the Contact page, with the relevant article and the detail in question. We aim to make significant changes transparent in the article.
Images and labels
Some illustrations may be AI-generated and are not documentary photographs. Images are selected or presented to support the subject, not as proof of a recipe's history or a dish's appearance in every setting. Partner material and paid placements are labelled so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial coverage.
